Getting started with Coach Editor

This article covers where to find the Coach Editor and how the clone-and-edit model works

Where to find it

You can access the Coach Editor at any time by clicking on Studio in the left-hand navigation menu.

Inside the Coach Editor, you can access three main sections:

  • Base coach templates: A curated library of out-of-the-box coaches that Databook has built, tested, and optimized end-to-end.

  • Your coaches: Your personal workspace containing any coaches you have cloned and customized for your team.

  • History: Version history tracking all your customized coaches.

Browsing base coaches

Each base coach card shows its name, a short description, and who built it (Databook). From a card you can:

  • View Details — Inspect the coach's configuration and capabilities without creating a copy.

  • Clone & Edit — Create your own editable copy of the coach so you can tailor it to your specific sales playbook.

Example base coaches include a Command-of-the-Message Coach, a Deal Coach, a First-Call Deck Generator, and a Meeting Brief Coach — each built for a specific sales motion.

What happens when you clone a coach

When you click Clone & Edit on a base coach, it creates an editable copy in your Your coaches tab. This copy is marked as a Draft until you decide to publish it.

Good to know: The original base coach remains live and fully available to your team while you work on your custom version. Nothing changes for your end users until you hit publish on your customized draft!

From Your coaches, you can reopen a draft (or a previously published custom coach) to keep editing.

Next step

Ready to start customizing? Once you've cloned a coach, head to Editing coaches with the Composer to learn how to tailor it to your needs.
