AI Studio: SmartTemplate Studio

Create high-quality documents and presentations tailored to your customer

Written by Geetanjali Sharma

This article is for anyone with AI Studio access who wants to create standardized, AI-generated assets, either for their own use or for their go-to-market team. Assets for the whole organization are usually owned by teams such as RevOps, Product Marketing, Sales Ops, or Business Value.

Builders can create assets and set them live for themselves. Strategists and Organization Admins can also set assets live for everyone in the organization and view asset analytics. See User roles in Databook.

What is SmartTemplate Studio?

SmartTemplate Studio lives in AI Studio > Assets. It lets you turn a PowerPoint or Word file into a reusable, AI-powered asset that your go-to-market team can generate on demand for any target account — without writing it from scratch each time.

Whether it's account plans, executive briefings, QBR decks, or first-call sales decks, SmartTemplate Studio keeps your design and messaging consistent while the content adapts to each account.

Here's the flow in a nutshell:

  1. You upload a template.

  2. Tell Databook which parts should be filled in automatically.

  3. Preview the result.

  4. Set it live, for yourself or for everyone in your organization

From then on, sellers can request the asset for any account, and Databook populates it with up-to-date, account-specific intelligence — while keeping your design, layout, and messaging consistent every time.

What it helps you do

  • Stay consistent at scale — Produce high-quality, on-brand content with predictable layout and messaging across thousands of accounts.

  • Configure your own assets in minutes — Build and publish new assets yourself, whenever you need to, with no dev or design support required.

  • Keep assets up to date — Refresh and adjust assets any time your messaging or templates change.

  • Drive adoption — Publish assets to your team and let sellers self-serve the content they need.

  • Track asset performance — If you're a Strategist or Organization Admin, review analytics to see how frequently assets are downloaded and which sellers are getting the most value.

Key concepts

A few terms you'll see throughout this guide:

Term

What it means

Template

The PowerPoint or Word file you upload. It contains your design and layout, plus placeholders marking the parts that should be filled in automatically.

Placeholder

A specially formatted piece of text in your template that Databook replaces with generated content. Placeholders use the format {{placeholder name}}.

Composer

The AI assistant inside the SmartTemplate Studio. You describe what you want in chat, and it maps, previews, and adjusts your content for you.

Asset

The finished, published output. It combines your template with dynamically generated content, and your team can request it for any account from Databook.

How configuration works

Building an asset follows the same path from start to finish:

  1. Upload your template. Get started by uploading your PowerPoint or Word template.

  2. Map your content. Use Composer to map the placeholders detected in your template to the right content.

  3. Preview and refine. Generate a preview against a real account and adjust the mapping until the content looks right.

  4. Set live. Choose who the asset is live for, Only me or Everyone in my organization, and publish it. Only Strategists and Organization Admins can set an asset live for everyone.

You don't have to finish in one sitting — you can save your work as a draft and return to your project at any time.
